From Weeks to Days: How Proactive Technical Built 200 Courses and Doubled Course Sales with iSpring

Proactive Technical Training develops and delivers electrical training courses for engineers and other technical professionals. Based in the UK, the company combines classroom and online learning to offer training to external corporate clients and individual learners.

Steve Redpath, Managing Director, is involved in both developing and delivering the company’s online and classroom courses, along with three other trainers. Today, Proactive Technical Training uses iSpring Suite and iSpring LMS to create and deliver courses, quizzes, and assessments to around 100 learners each month.

The challenge: making training easier to develop

Before iSpring, Proactive Technical Training relied primarily on classroom training.

While classroom-based training remained an important part of the company’s approach, the team needed a more flexible way to develop and deliver online learning and assessments. Two challenges stood out:

  • Making training and assessment materials more accessible to learners
  • Streamlining course development and deployment

The existing approach required significant trainer time and made it difficult for learners to access additional resources outside scheduled training sessions.

For Proactive Technical Training, the goal was not simply to move classroom courses online. The team wanted to combine different learning formats and make training more adaptable for both the business and its clients.

The solution: iSpring

The team discovered iSpring through word of mouth and chose it after previously using another LMS.

One of the key differences was the ability to create courses using built-in authoring features. According to Steve, their previous platform could be difficult to use and manage and did not include an integrated course development tool.

With iSpring Suite and iSpring LMS, the team could create online courses and assessments while still incorporating classroom training into the overall learning experience.

Key results achieved with iSpring

  • Doubled course sales over five years
  • Days rather than weeks to build course materials
  • ~100 learners/month
  • 200 courses developed
  • 3 trainers involved in content creation and administration
  • Most courses now use blended learning and online assessments

From weeks to days: a more flexible development process

Today, Steve and three other trainers create and manage training content. The team has developed approximately 200 courses using iSpring.

Their course development process is relatively flexible and varies based on the content. Most courses are blended, combining classroom sessions with online learning and assessments.

One of the biggest advantages has been enhancing classroom training with online materials while reducing in-person training time.

The development process has also become significantly faster.

Courses that previously could take weeks to build can now often be developed in days, depending on the content.

Supporting growth with blended learning

The impact of this approach is also evident in the company’s course sales.

Over five years, course sales have doubled. Steve notes that this growth cannot be attributed solely to iSpring, but iSpring now plays an important role in how Proactive Technical Training develops and delivers its courses.

Around 100 learners per month use the company’s courses and quizzes through iSpring LMS, while the team continues to expand its use of iSpring in day-to-day course development and delivery.

A nationally accredited course that changed the way training was delivered

One of the clearest examples of iSpring’s impact came around four years ago, when Proactive Technical Training developed a nationally accredited course for engineers in the telecommunications industry.

iSpring let the team deliver the course in a more dynamic way while also making the delivery process more efficient.

For learners, this meant a more engaging learning experience. For the business, it provided a practical way to deliver a complex professional course at scale.

Learner feedback has been consistently positive.

Looking ahead

Proactive Technical Training plans to continue expanding its use of iSpring across everyday course development and delivery activities.

With a growing portfolio of courses, a blended learning model, and approximately 100 learners using its online training each month, iSpring has become part of the company’s approach to delivering professional technical education.
